The Nissan Murano first hit the market in 2003 and its sales have been growing ever since.  Until 2007 the Murano sales were on an incline, however, during this year its sales began to steady off.  The 2009 Nissan Murano has been completely redesigned, yet it has kept some major designs.  It is still has seating for up to five individuals.  Its competitor the Honda Pilot has seating for eight, which is why it has been the Murano’s largest competitor. Nissan has actually created a unique exterior design for its cars and SUVs that is different than anything else on the road.  The new Murano stays true to this design, however, it features an updated look.  The appearance is much bolder than previous models and it has a new grille and headlight clusters.  On the LE and SL fog lights are standard.  The back-end of the Murano has slimmed down, and isn’t as bulky.  The taillights are LED and every version of the 2009 Murano comes with chrome tailpipes.

The steering is well-weighted and also is quite easy to handle on the road.  The overall design of this vehicle has a “sporty” theme to it, however the driving of this vehicle is quite soft.  There is a slight body roll to the car, but it has not proved to be an issue for drivers.  The rear independent suspension on this vehicle was reworked by Nissan, which strived to improve the riding quality for backseat passengers.

The Murano features a 3.5-liter V-6 variable automatic transmission.  It has an option of choosing either all-wheel drive or full-wheel drive.  The engine is a 265 horsepower giant that features 248 pounds-feet of torque.  Start-up and acceleration is quite fast within the Murano and many drivers have found themselves pleased with the outcome.

The 2009 Nissan Murano features decent gas mileage for this type of vehicle.  It is a competitive number, but it hasn’t changed from the 2007 Murano models.  It is recommended that you use premium gasoline when filling up this vehicle, but is not a requirement.  For the Full Wheel Drive models, the Nissan Murano features 18 MPG in the city and 23 MPG on the highway.  The All Wheel Drive Murano models feature the exact same MPG stats.

The interior of this vehicle has been improved since previous versions.  The interior comes in two different colors, either Charcoal or Café Latte.  Also, you are able to choose from leather, double-stitched, wood trim or aluminum for the interior decorations.  The aluminum used within this Nissan is actual aluminum and has been praised for its design features.

The gages are quite bright, and the steering-wheel features illuminated controls and a centralized control panel.  The Murano comes standard with the pushbutton engine-start system.  There is a 7-inch touch-screen navigation system.  The SL model gives drivers the option of having heated front seats, however, the LE model comes standard with heated front seats.  There is also a two-driver seat-position memory feature that allows the drivers seat to be automatically adjusted to driver-set specifications.
