According to a latest reports, all the car manufacturers will have to meet the new exhaust emission rules and regulations set by EU. This will have to be achieved latest by the year 2015. As proposed all the car manufacturers will have to meet an average of 125g/km for any new vehicle range manufactured here after. However, this is not confirmed yet, as there is a large opposition to both the level of CO2 emission to be achieved and the date. Most car manufacturers have been trying hard to attain this by developing technologies and figuring out cost effective ways to be efficient both in terms of fuels efficiency and emission. Here it should be mentioned that, BMW was quite successful in the past with its programme for EfficientDynamics. Apart from this, Mercedes-Benz had launched the weight and fuel efficient technology called BlueTech. At around the same time Volkswagen introduced the BlueMotion technology. In fact the BlueMotion technology gained immense popularity over the years and its demand has increased tremendously. In UK, there are several incentives that are offered to get a lower level of emission, especially in the congested city of London. In fact in London, certain charges will be completely deducted for vehicles that produce 120g/km or lesser. However, this is only a proposal and it will be a while before it is brought into effect. Other cities in UK are for now keeping a close watch on London’s policies on the issue and are expected to follow.
